Qatar National Library Trip – West Bay Campus, 2019-20
About Qatar National Library
Qatar National Library is part of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, one of the world’s preeminent centres of learning, research and culture and also a guardian of the region’s heritage. It is an institution promoting discovery and human development in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and UN’s Global Sustainable Development Goals. The QNL building located in Education City is designed by renowned Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas. It is the first new national library in the world in this millennium. Qatar National Library has hundreds of thousands of materials for educational and leisure reading across genres including print books, heritage items, e-journals, e-books, audio books, magazines, newspapers and media resources.
About School Visit
The students of Pearl School visited Qatar National Library as part of the Pearl School mission to foster a community of progressive lifelong learners.
On 7th May 2019, 24 Students of Class-VII accompanied with 3 teachers/staff visited Qatar National Library from West Bay campus.
Ms. Dana and Ms. Nagat guided the students and staff and took them for a complete tour of Qatar National Library. They explained about the policy and procedures of QNL which included QNL timings, borrowing procedures, returning procedures and getting a new membership card etc. We visited to Children’s Library, Young adult Library, Adult Library, Writer’s Zone, Work Station for the people with special needs, Self borrowing stations, Self returning stations, Auditorium, four Innovation Stations for Music, Green room(Studio) and Computer Designing with 3D printer, etc. QNL has computer rooms and group study rooms with a capacity of twelve persons. All these rooms can be used by only QNL members for two hours every day with prior booking. There is a multipurpose room in children’s library. The Students got privilege to read books of their choices in the children’s library. The students and staff were amazed by the beautiful architecture of QNL and well impressed by the excellent facilities and services. This trip was an enriching and informative experience for the students and staff.
