Teachers’ Day is celebrated as a tribute to the valuable contribution made by teachers to the society by imparting knowledge and enlightening and shaping the career of students. The date for celebrating this special event varies from country to country across the world. In India, Teachers’ Day is celebrated on the 5th of September every year, since 1962 as it is the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, a prominent thinker, philosopher and an educator.
Students of Thumama Campus celebrated Teachers’ Day on 5th September, 2019. The students of Classes V & VI took over the duties of the teachers for the day.
The day begins with a special assembly. The programme started with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. This was followed by the student’s speech about the significance of a teacher in every field and their contribution in building the character and personality of an individual. As the speech concluded, the cultural programme began which included a classical dance performance by Class IV, a song by students of Class V and a comedy skit presented by the students of class VI.
Students also presented a thanks giving card prepared for this special occasion and a gift as their token of love and gratitude to their teachers. The efforts of students were appreciated by teachers thus making the event a grand success.
The assembly came to an end with the Indian national anthem.
