“Magnificent Me” Puppet Making & Self Introduction Activity
“We are only puppets, our strings are being pulled by unknown forces ’’ – Georg Buchner
The students of Pearl School West Bay Campus engaged in an extraordinary Historical exercise of “Magnificent Me” Puppet Making and Self Introduction on Sunday, 23rd June 2019. This fun activity aimed at introducing the form of Puppetry which involved the manipulation of inanimate objects for the students of Class II.
Puppetry is a very ancient form of theatre. Puppetry may take any form, but it shares the process of animating inanimate performing objects to tell a story.
This ambitious activity helped the students develop their visual-spatial intelligence and kinaesthetic intelligence. It encouraged the craftsmanship and Originality of the students and enabled the child to learn about puppet design, puppetry technique and the technique of staging a puppet show. The students presented their immaculate work by making colourful and meaningful puppets by using interesting materials like colour paper, ice cream sticks, cloth, recycled medium etc. to create stick puppets. The puppetry Making Activity proved to be a true Learning Experience for all the participants and each child took home an Inspiration and the importance of keeping our Ancient Forms of Art Alive.
